Manfred Shum works closely with regional and international asset managers on investment fund formation, restructuring, and compliance matters across hedge, private equity, credit, real estate, and infrastructure fund strategies. He also advises fund managers on private equity M&A, joint ventures, and corporate transactions within fund management and portfolio investment structures.
On the investor side, Manfred frequently represents institutional investors, including sovereign wealth funds and state-owned investors, in their allocations to alternative funds managed by leading U.S. and Asia-based asset managers. His experience spans multiple sectors, including real estate, infrastructure, energy, technology, and venture capital. Clients value his ability to navigate complex investment structures and provide strategic, solution-oriented advice.
Manfred earned his LL.B. from the London School of Economics and Political Science. Prior to joining Broadfield, he was an associate in the Investment Funds team at Sidley Austin LLP in Hong Kong. He is fluent in English, Mandarin, and Cantonese.
